Self-Care for Black Men at New York Public Library!
Come hang with me next week on Monday June 2
When I moved to New York over 15 years ago I never imagined one day I’d be invited to talk at the New York Public Library, but here we are!
On Monday, June 2 at 11 AM I will be at NYPL’s recently renovated Countee Cullen Library Branch for my talk: Self-Care as Resistance. In a moderated conversation, we’ll be exploring how self-care is a vital tool in managing mental health and wellness, especially in times of social and political strife. We’ll be exploring themes around the intersections around gender, race, and sexuality and how these social locations impact how we see caring for ourselves, and what barriers we need to overcome for Black men to treat ourselves with care and compassion.
It’s an unbelievable honor to be invited to be in conversation at NYPL. As a card carrying member so much of my writing has taken place in the halls of NYPL libraries so this is an extra special treat for me.
I hope that you’ll come join in person or sign up to stream online. Please see the flyer below for more details.

See you there!
